On 7 March 2026, India Security Press (ISP), in Nashik, Maharashtra, marked its centenary with a series of commemorative events, including the inauguration of a centenary gate and garden, as well as the release of a commemorative postage stamp. While the occasion marked a century of secure document production, it also signalled a broader shift – from traditional printing to integrated systems spanning identity, authentication, and revenue protection.

Established in 1925, ISP has long served as a cornerstone of India’s sovereign infrastructure. Today, it operates under the Security Printing and Minting Corp of India Ltd (SPMCIL), a government-owned enterprise within the Ministry of Finance. Since its incorporation in 2006, SPMCIL has provided ISP with a structured platform for investment, expansion, and technology adoption.

ISP forms part of a wider SPMCIL network that includes Currency Note Press (Nashik), Bank Note Press (Dewas, Madhya Pradesh), an ink factory in Dewas, Security Printing Press (Hyderabad, Telangana), Security Paper Mill (Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh), and four mints across Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Noida – creating an integrated ecosystem spanning currency, identity and authentication systems.
