p-Chip and RxERP Bring Embedded Identity to Pharma Supply Chain

RxERP, a cloud-hosted, pharmaceuticalfirst ERP platform, and p‑Chip Corp, a provider of light-activated microtransponder tags and software for secure digital identity, have entered into a licensing agreement to integrate p‑Chip’s embedded identity technology into the RxERP platform.

Under the agreement, RxERP will incorporate p‑Chip’s microtransponders and associated authentication capabilities into serialised supply chain operations, linking unit-level identity to operational and compliance records, including receiving, inventory management, verification, and reporting.

This will enable manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, specialty pharmacies, and other supply chain stakeholders to maintain a continuous, auditable linkage between the physical product and its digital record for compliance under the US Drug Supply Chain & Security Act.

The microtransponders consist of a tiny silicon chip – about the size of a grain of salt – with a unique ID number. The chip is designed to be permanently embedded into individual drug prescription vials and containers, where it lies dormant until illuminated with modulated light at a specific frequency. The light activates the chip’s internal circuit, prompting it to access its stored memory and transmit an encoded micro radio-frequency signal. A dedicated p-Chip reader then detects and decodes this signal, revealing the chip’s unique ID number.
