Meet Crane Authentication: A New Unified Force in Security and Brand Protection

Crane NXT has announced the formation of a new business unit called 'Crane Authentication' within its recently established Security and Authentication Technologies segment. This move comes as part of its completion of the acquisition of De La Rue Authentication Solutions (DLRAS), which it made in October 2024 for £300 million.

The new business unit will integrate with OpSec Security, which Crane acquired in March 2024 for $270 million. OpSec and DLRAS are prominent providers of holographic solutions, among other technologies, focused on brand protection, tax stamps, ID documents, and various high-security applications.

In addition, both OpSec & DLRAS also have scalable software platforms that enable product traceability, manage brand property licensing, and detect and enforce against online brand abuse and content infringement.

Regarding tax stamps, DLRAS’s extensive tax stamp and traceability business includes contracts with most countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council, as well as Cameroon and Sudan in Africa. The company also provides non-fiscal labels to tobacco organisations in seven European markets, enabling them to meet their security feature obligations under the EU Tobacco Products Directive.
