Lumenco and XRD Nano Partner to Scale Microlenses for Brand Security

US-based Lumenco, together with its subsidiary in brand protection (Nanopixel®), has announced a strategic alliance with UK-based XRD Nano to co-develop new-generation solutions for manufacturing microlens arrays and high-performance UV chemistry for brand security.

The two companies say collaboration will enable scalable, cost-effective, and ultra-secure applications across brand protection, tax stamps, and high-security labelling.

On the back of Lumenco’s micro-optics developments, NanoPixel has generated a substantial IP portfolio, including patents in light diffusion and management, anticounterfeiting technologies, micro-mirror reflectors, and ultra-lightweight electromagnetic shielding for aircraft and aerospace.

XRD Nano specialises in UV casting technology for replicating nanostructures and microstructures. Its solutions comprise machines, UV resins, and nano-inks for creating intricate holographic and light-reflecting structures.

At the heart of the partnership is the successful trial of XRD Nano’s three-station UV casting system. The system is scheduled to commence full-scale commercial production in the third quarter of 2025, enabling faster and more efficient deployment of advanced optical security features.
