Casa De Moneda’s Third Patent Plate
Casa De Moneda’s Third Patent Plate
Casa de Moneda de Chile, the Chilean Mint, has signed a collaboration agreement with the Chilean Association of Municipalities to raise awareness and promote the implementation of its products, such as the Third Patent Plate, in various municipalities. This commitment seeks to strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors towards e-governance transport solutions.
The Third Patent Plate is a technological solution that combines physical and digital security measures on a self-adhesive label, applied to the inside of a vehicle’s windshield. The label contains a fingerprint that, when scanned with a phone, provides vehicle information emanating from the municipality, including patent number, model, year, brand, name of municipality, and renewal date of the registration permit.
With this solution, the possibility of verifying vehicular documents has been extended to all citizens through their smartphones, democratising a process previously reserved for the Carabineros de Chile (armed forces). This initiative seeks to improve road safety and combat the cloning of patents and falsification of documents.
