Meta Materials Sells Authentication Business to Authentix

Texas-based security solutions provider Authentix has acquired the authentication business assets of Meta Materials – namely, Nanotech Security Corporation (NSC) – for $10 million, excluding assets such as cash and real estate.

NSC is known for its innovations in micro-, nano-, and plasmonic structures, and it has also developed in-house secure foil production to provide products directly to customers. Its portfolio includes KolourOptik Stripe and KolourDepth™, which offer effects combining multidirectional movement, 3D stereo depth, and multiple colours based on nano-diffraction.

Authentix provides central banks with Level 3 features and high-speed sensors for authentication and banknote fitness. It also runs tax stamp programmes, secures brands in the pharmaceutical and other sectors, and is a leader in fuel marking programmes.

These programmes are supported by the company’s DigiTrax™ solution for brand authentication and tracking, its TransAct™ technology for fiscal marking and production monitoring, and its AXIS® data management solution for fuel marking.
