From IHMA to IOTA: A New Chapter Begins
The International Hologram Manufacturers Association (IHMA) has embarked on the next chapter in its history, with a new name reflecting its commitment to serving a broader ecosystem of optical technologies. That new name is the International Optical Technologies Association (IOTA).
The IHMA was founded in 1993 and has played an essential role in shaping the holographic industry, representing members from across the globe. As the association stands at the cusp of a transformative era, the transition to IOTA demonstrates its commitment to ongoing evolving markets and new technology frontiers, particularly in optical security.
Why the change?
In the last few years, the security features world has changed, said IOTA Chair Dr Mark Deakes. Holograms, once the cornerstone of anticounterfeiting solutions, now exist within a broader spectrum of optical security technologies.
Technologies have advanced beyond holography; market applications are expanding; solution providers in the security industry are consolidating through mergers and acquisitions; there is an increasing demand for both phygital and sustainable solutions; and challenges have grown more intricate.
