Toppan Showcases Brand Packaging Products

Paris is widely regarded as one of the global centres of the branded beauty, luxury, premium drinks, and personal care markets. So, it makes sense that secure packaging producers Toppan, and its Düsseldorf-based subsidiary Toppan Europe, chose Paris Packaging Week (25-26 January) to showcase its range of brand authentication packaging products.

Paris Packaging Week comprises events that cover packaging for a range of branded products including perfume, cosmetics, wine and spirits, and the newly added Packaging Première event, which features packaging for luxury products such as accessories, jewellery, and fashion.

Taking part for the second consecutive year, Toppan displayed its full range of brand protection and environmental technologies.

Eco-friendly NFC tag label

This eco-friendly NFC tag label uses paper material as the substrate for the antenna instead of the conventional PET film or other plastic materials. A new circuit fabrication process enables ‘plastic-free’ NFC tags while maintaining communication performance. Fraudulent reapplication of labels is also prevented because the paper material tears easily.

Super mini-sized NFC tag

Toppan has developed two super mini-sized concept models, with diameters of 7mm and 8mm, respectively. It is generally difficult to maintain communication performance when the size of the antenna is reduced, but Toppan’s original design preserves the same performance as conventional tags.

According to the company, this means Toppan’s tags can be used for compact containers, such as small cosmetics products like lipsticks and mascara, as well as vials and syringes used in medical and pharmaceutical settings.

On-metal NFC tag

Metal materials generally inhibit communication between NFC devices, but Toppan claims that its NFC tags maintain performance even when attached to metals because of their original design and modifications.

Cloud-based ID authentication platform

This platform is a cloud-based service that enables product authentication, allows brands to provide product information, promotions, and other services, and facilitates supply chain management, including traceability and monitoring of grey market diversion, based on data collected.

Visitors to the Toppan booth were also able to experience the latest security solutions for smart packages via demos covering customer touchpoint creation and supply chain management.
