First HP Indigo Secure Press for Latin America

Tausa-Pelcco, a Mexican company producing security documents and vehicle, road, and urban identification plates, has purchased an HP Indigo 6K Secure Press, the first in Latin America. This type of digital printing press is only sold to accredited high security customers.

The press was launched in 2021. In the same year, OpSec Security was the first European organisation to purchase the press. This was followed, in early 2022, by the installation of the press in Nepal for the local production of excise tax stamps.

The press is built upon HP Indigo’s proprietary liquid electrophotography (LEP) digital colour printing technology and uses the largest set of inks available to the security digital printing industry. These include HP Indigo’s spot colour, silver, metallic, digital- colour-shifting inks, invisible UVs, MICR and tagged inks. These inks are generally restricted to the 6K Secure Press and cannot be used in other digital printing devices.

The press also combines a set of digital features originated by Jura, which can create multiple security layers and variable elements in one printing pass. This includes the application of unique identifiers in multiple locations on a label, package, or tax stamp, for a full authentication and track and trace solution.

In addition, the press is equipped with a secure workflow system, which ensures that every event is recorded together with press operator ID and time stamp. Moreover, any unauthorised action on the press can be disabled.
