Merck and Zebra Collaborate on Traceability Solutions

Merck, a leading science and technology company, has partnered with Zebra Technologies, a global leader in digitising and automating frontline workflows, to create solutions that address product verification, authenticity, and trust challenges.

The first product of this collaboration will be a new handheld reader designed to enhance the M-Trust™ platform, a secure cyber-physical trust solution developed by Merck. Launched in January 2025, M-Trust enables organisations to ensure product quality and authenticity throughout their value chains by connecting physical products to their secure digital twins.

The newly developed handheld reader consists of a mobile scanner built on Zebra’s TC58 mobile computer and Merck’s security pigment detector, the SEC-Reader.

This device scans products and transmits data to the M-Trust platform for verification.

This solution also includes features for frontline communication, such as a two-way radio, a 16-megapixel camera, and a 1D/2D barcode scanner.
