New Developments from Digimarc

Digimarc Corporation, a NASDAQ-listed provider of digital watermarking technologies, has announced new developments in two main areas: brand protection and plastics recycling.

First, Digimarc has formed a strategic partnership with a prominent nutraceutical company to address increasing concerns over counterfeit products and food fraud in the digital age. Specifically, the company, like many others in the nutritional supplement market, is concerned by new challenges such as counterfeit listings on e-commerce websites, and AI-manipulated packaging on counterfeit products bought online.

The partnership will utilise Digimarc Engage, a platform that embeds covert, encrypted digital watermarks into product packaging. The watermarks can be verified by consumers using smartphones and other mobile devices, without the need for specialised applications.

Second, Digimarc has launched its Validate mobile app, which empowers authorised employees, supply chain partners, and third-party inspectors to authenticate products in the field, using only a smartphone camera, with no additional equipment or training required. Upon detecting a digital watermark, users receive immediate confirmation of authenticity, and any suspicious items can be flagged and reported to the Digimarc Illuminate platform in real time.
