Infineon Launches I2C Bridge Tag for NFC Authentication of IoT Devices
Addressing the increasing demand for a simple user experience for configuring and pairing IoT devices, Infineon Technologies has launched the OPTIGA™ Authenticate NBT, an NFC I2C bridge tag for contactless authentication and secured configuration.
OPTIGA is the only asymmetric cryptography tag for signing and verifying operations in the market, certified as a Type 4 Tag by the NFC Forum.
It enables contactless NFC communication between IoT devices and contactless readers such as smartphones. It can be used for various applications, such as secured configuration of electronic devices without a display, activation of shared mobility vehicles, passive commissioning of unpowered smart light bulbs before installation, and data logging on patient health monitors.
OPTIGA Authenticate NBT supports two specific brand protection methods: offline authentication using public key infrastructure (PKI) and online authentication using cryptographic onetime token (COTT).
The tag will be available in August 2024.
