ASPA Webinar Addresses Counterfeit Crisis in India
The Authentication Solution Providers’ Association (ASPA) recently organised a webinar titled ‘Authenticity Matters: Protecting FMCG & Nutraceuticals from Counterfeits’, as part of its ongoing efforts to combat counterfeiting in India.
The event aimed to raise awareness and address the counterfeit crisis in the Fast- Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector. India ranks among the top five countries most affected by counterfeit goods, with FMCG, apparel, and agrochemicals accounting for about 30% of cases.
Speakers such as Raj Kamal Gilra from Tata Consumer Products, Manoj Kochar, President of ASPA, and Micaal Sidorov, General Secretary of the International Hologram Manufacturers Association, participated in the event. They discussed anticounterfeiting solutions such as holograms, QR codes, NFC, and blockchain to enhance product authenticity and protect consumers and businesses from counterfeiting threats.
ASPA celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, showcasing a longstanding commitment to combating counterfeiting. Established in 1998, it began its journey as the Hologram Manufacturers Association of India (HoMAI), focusing solely on holograms. In 2014, HoMAI transitioned into ASPA, expanding its reach to all authentication solutions.
