Innovations in Tamper Proofing

A number of recent developments in tamper proof labels caught our attention, two of which are described in this article.

BioSheal from India

A startup company based in India, Track Pack Innovation, has been granted a patent for its BioSheal® solution, a 100% biodegradable tamper-evident label designed to provide a customised holographic tamper message when removal is attempted.

The solution offers a double layer of security for authentication labels and tax stamps. The top layer carries printed and digital security features, while features in the form of hidden images, taggants, holograms, and specialised inks, are embedded in the bottom layer of the label.

Given that state excise departments in India are currently the target of environmentalists, who are protesting against the use of single use polyester tax stamps on liquor bottles (see also page 1), the Track Pack solution comes at the right time.
