CCL Design Partners with iTRACE Technologies

CCL Design has announced a partnership with iTRACE Technologies, a leading provider of supply chain security applications for anti-grey and anti-counterfeit markets. The partnership will integrate the iTRACE 2DMI® smartphone authentication capability with CCL Design’s HP Indigo-based security label production.

iTRACE 2DMI (2-Dimensional Marking Identifier) is a patented, proprietary unique identification solution, which uses encrypted and secure marks that cannot be deciphered or recreated by counterfeiters, and which has been developed specifically to secure products using existing production infrastructures and mobile devices.

When used for product authentication, open source technologies like datamatrix and QR codes are easily copied or reproduced by any counterfeiter or diverter with a label printer, said the two companies in a joint press release. Counterfeiters apply their own QR codes to fake products and direct consumers to fake authentication websites, enabling the counterfeiters to actually legitimise their fake products directly with the consumer.

These types of attacks are not possible with iTRACE 2DMI, which gives consumers the certainty that their product authentication is genuine along with the products they are buying, stated the press release.
