Blockchain has generated nothing short of hysteria in the technology world. Blockchain made its big public debut in tandem with a new form of currency, the volatile but very real bitcoin, the world’s first crypto-currency that many thought would be the end to traditional money.
For some, blockchain is seemingly the technological equivalent of the second coming, a disruptor that will fundamentally change the technological landscape forever. For others, it is a not-so-exciting way to share and store data that doesn’t seem to be worthy of all the bluster.
Will blockchain eventually take its place with other tech trends like big data, the cloud or the Internet of Things (IoT), or will this one finally outdo all the others and live up to all the hype?
Whether you are a blockchain fanatic or someone still on the fence, the chance is that blockchain will likely enter your technological life at some point and it will certainly prove to be a useful and disruptive technology for many applications across multiple industries.
