Bunge and CP Group Enhance Blockchain Soya Traceability
Global agribusiness leader Bunge has strengthened its partnership with Bangkok Produce Merchandising (BKP), a subsidiary of Thailand’s Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group), to improve soya traceability from Brazil. This initiative represents a significant step toward creating more transparent, responsible, and sustainable agricultural supply chains in Southeast Asia.
On 15 September, Bunge announced that, following successful pilot tests, it would implement a blockchain-based traceability platform for soya and soya meal sourced from Brazil. This traceable soya will be supplied to BKP and CP Group for use in food and animal feed production across Thailand and other Southeast Asian markets.
The blockchain platform was co-developed by Bunge and Justoken, a Bunge Ventures portfolio company specialising in blockchain infrastructure. This system establishes a direct and verifiable connection between production and end customers, providing real-time visibility into sourcing practices.
The large-scale rollout of the platform follows a successful pilot conducted in 2023, during which approximately 375,000 tonnes of soya meal were traced from Brazil to CP Group’s feed production operations. This pilot validated the system’s technical, operational, and commercial feasibility, demonstrating blockchain’s potential for securing sustainable, digitally integrated supply chains.
