Mergers at One End, Capacity Building at the Other
Whilst the authentication industry is witnessing consolidation through mergers and acquisitions, it is also seeing a strong wave of investment in capacity-building and innovation. This article looks at some of the latest investments within the RFID, holography, and security printing sectors.
RFID in Asia
In April 2025, Avery Dennison opened its first RFID inlay and label production facility in Pune, India. As the first ARC-certified RFID manufacturer in the country, the plant significantly enhances Avery Dennison’s ability to serve domestic and regional markets efficiently.
The company also introduced AD Cobra, a new RFID inlay engineered for Indian environmental and operational conditions. The inlay aims to improve performance across sectors such as retail, logistics, and pharmaceuticals.
Meanwhile, in the ASEAN region, Xindeco IoT Malaysia, a subsidiary of China’s Xiamen Xindeco, has opened a 2,787m² RFID manufacturing plant in Nilai, Malaysia. The facility is set to produce up to 1 billion RFID tags annually, positioning Xindeco as a leading supplier of standard and customised RFID solutions in the region.
