Pragmatic Launch NFC Connect for Authentication

UK-based chip company Pragmatic Semiconductor has announced the launch of its latest radio frequency identification (RFID) near-field communication (NFC) product line, Pragmatic NFC Connect.

Powered by Pragmatic’s FlexIC (flexible integrated circuit) technology, NFC Connect delivers industry-standard NFC endpoint capabilities in an ultra-thin, flexible form factor with a uniquely low carbon footprint. This enables inlay manufacturers, label converters, and service bureaus to help brands integrate NFC functionality into their products or packaging –even on curved surfaces – without adding bulk or cost.

The chips are made at Pragmatic Park in County Durham, UK, the company’s flagship production facility and home to the UK’s first 300mm semiconductor fabrication line, opened in 2024. The facility produces chips based on Pragmatic’s FlexIC technology, a low-cost and sustainable alternative to silicon chips.

Initial samples, including the PR1301 inaugural product in Pragmatic’s NFC Connect line, are now available for pilot projects and commercial testing. Businesses can explore use cases and request partnerships through Pragmatic’s official platform.
