TotalEnergies Implements ValiGate on Lubricants

TotalEnergies Lubrifiants has partnered with SCRIBOS (part of the KURZ group) to implement its ValiGate® Direct Print solution on lubricants.

ValiGate comprises a QR code embedded with a patented copy- protection pattern, which SCRIBOS developed from its knowledge of holographic security features.

A standard smartphone camera scans the entire code, including the embedded pattern, and sends the scanned data to the SCRIBOS 360 digital platform.

Proprietary algorithms then analyse the embedded copy-protection pattern in real-time, checking for its unique optical or structural properties. If the pattern matches the original, the product is authenticated. If it’s a copy, the lack of a genuine embedded pattern will result in authentication failure.

Copies or clones of the QR code will fail the verification process because standard copying devices cannot reproduce the embedded anti-copy structure with the same precision or detail.

One of the key attributes of ValiGate is that no specialised hardware or app is required; the smartphone’s camera acts as the primary scanner, and the advanced backend handles the verification process.
